Welcome to the 2023 Spring Lacrosse season!

The last three seasons have presented the world, and youth sports in Prosper, with some unique challenges. Depsite those challenges we have continued to see our lacrosse program grow and we are excited for the 2023 Spring Lacrosse season to begin.

Coach Pat DeBolt, Head Coach of the Prosper Boys Lacrosse team, will continue to set the foundation for the youth program. In conjunction with the age group coaching staffs Coach DeBolt will be providing the curriculum used for our player development and helping me oversee all the teams.  He will be assisted by a number of great parents that have stepped up to volunteer as well as coaches from Prosper's High School staff.  We're also setting up position specific coaching for dodging, defense, face offs and goalies.

Practice days and times are still being finalized but we are looking to start practice soon after the kids return to school in January for all age groups. Games will begin in mid to late February and run through the end of April. We will practice 2-3 a week on the turf fields at Frontier Park. Our home games will be played on the turf fields. We will play away games against area teams such as Allen, Frisco, Hebron, etc. We will look to schedule 8+ games for each team.

For Kindergarten and 1st grade, we have created an entry level program called Pee Wee Lax to help grow the game.  Beginning after Spring Break it includes eight (8) weekly practices for 45 minutes. The Pee Wee Lax registration will be open through March. Note, any first grader is welcome to sign up for the 1st/2nd team. The Pee Wee program is designed for those looking to get started, but not at a place to wear full pads and helmet. Also, all first year Pee Wee Lax players will be given a free ($50) lacrosse stick!

Registration Cost:
 - Peewee Lax Kinder, 1st, 2nd ($100) – Starts March 13, 2023
 - 1st/2nd ($225)
 - 3rd/4th ($225)
 - 5th/6th ($325)
 - 7th/8th ($325)
 - Wall Ball - every player will need one hour of practice on a wall each week. This can be done at home, at the field before/after practice, etc.

Equipment required for the season includes a lacrosse helmet, lacrosse shoulder pads, gloves, elbow pads, lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, athletic cup and cleats. We've included a list of equipment recommendation on prosperlax.com to help with the selections. Please note the league is requiring NOCSE certified shoulder pads this year. We have collected used equipment over the years and will make everything available to incoming players.

The DFW Lacrosse organization we play under requires each player to have a US Lacrosse membership and there will be a place to include it in the registration process. Details and benefits received from the membership can be found by clicking here

In addition, we will need parent volunteers, especially at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade level. Youth sports are a village and we would love to have anyone interested to help us make the 2023 season a success.  We need help at practices/games (ie - running drills, shagging balls).  You don’t need experience playing lacrosse to get involved. We have great coaches that will be setting up the drills and teaching the volunteers along the way. Please reach out and let us know if you’re able to help.

And finally, we need volunteers to help with communications, uniforms, team pictures, social media and game day operations. Please raise your hand.

Look forward to a great Spring season!
